Massams Building Supplies of Hallsall has upgraded one of its older Mercedes-Benz trucks with a new crane truck featuring a stand-out colour scheme, built, delivered and customised by Mac’s Truck Sales in just 6 weeks.
The 26-tonne DAF CF320 with around 13.5t payload will be used to deliver the wide variety of landscaping supplies offered by Massams, such as aggregates, block paving, and forest bark, across the North West.
Due to the nature of Massam Supplies Ltd work, there was no requirement for a crane with huge lifting capacity, instead looking for more reach and flexibility, something this build definitely gives them.
Steve Massam, Managing Director and owner, Massams Building Supplies said “Our new DAF replaces an older Mercedes-Benz 6-wheeler, the truck still looked new but we were ready for a change. Our driver has spent quite a bit of time in DAF’s so we decided to give them a try and we are thrilled with the fit and finish of the CF cab. We opted for a 6-wheeler again as it seems like space especially on new build residential areas is getting tighter and tighter, with smaller streets and people having more cars we needed the maneuverability”.
Mac’s Truck Sales customised the in-stock vehicle from their large facility just off the M62 in Huddersfield, using in-house paint booths to create the signature Massams look.
Steve added “A lot of people comment on our bright green and red colours, it all started when I got my first British Leyland truck back in the 80’s and needed to choose a colour scheme. At the time, M&S was running green trucks, they really took my fancy. Over the years, every time we changed vehicles, the green got that bit brighter… you certainly won’t miss them on the road now!”

This unit joins the fleet of smaller pickups, vans, and a Volvo 6-wheeler operated by the 17 and growing members of staff.
