Mac’s brings expertise to Keighley & Worth Valley Railway by installing FASSI F155 to a new maintenance wagon
Invitation to Help a UK Railway Icon
The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway (KWVR) is a nationally renowned heritage line, originally opened in 1867, with thousands of visitors from around the country and the world flocking to take in the incredible selection of locomotives and stunning Yorkshire scenery. The line has been featured in countless films, most famously the 1970 classic, ‘The Railway Children’.
KWVR approached the crane engineering team at Mac’s, with the approval of FASSI UK, to work on something very special, a completely refurbished new track maintenance wagon to replace an older unit that was first used in the 1980’s and fitted with a (very rusty) Atlas Crane.

The Results
Over the course of numerous site visits, our team took the time to understand their exact requirements, concluding that the FASSI F155 (14.5 T/M) would fit their needs, being light, compact, and easy to maintain. In addition to the crane itself, we also further supported the project with our in-house fabrication capabilities through Mac’s Laser Engineering – creating bespoke storage options for the various tools and accessories needed for track work. These were designed, laser-cut, pressed, welded, and assembled by our team and installed onto the Wagon – made from stainless steel, they are extremely weather resistant, durable, and will stand the test of time.
