Business as a force for good, promoting employee growth and well-being while enhancing our local community.
Laura McFarland
Office & HR Manager
“We understand that Corporate Social Responsibility means improving conditions not just for their employees but also the community and environment. By understanding how our social impact can help to strengthen communities and potentially help change lives, allowing the organisation to create a positive impact in the local community. By actively supporting a local charity, in a long-term partnership, to offer both tangible and intangible requirements and involving our employees in the opportunities, we believe together, we can make a difference.”
Our Core Values
Raising Funds for Our Charity
We work in direct partnership with The Welcome Centre, a food bank, and selected other local Huddersfield charities that are meaningful to our colleagues.
We support their vital work with sponsorship and fundraising. From running Marathons to dress-down Fridays, everybody works as a team towards our cause with every bit making a difference.
Other than funds, we also support the charity by sharing expertise from across our many business functions, including Finance, HR, Marketing, and operations, to help maximise the charities impact on local people.
CULTIVATING A CULTURE WHERE EMPLOYEES CAN GROW
Our comprehensive approach to organizational and people development ensures that every employee is aligned with our business goals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
We prioritize robust training and mentorship programs, including valuable apprenticeship opportunities across various roles and departments. By collaborating with local educational institutions, we offer a range of courses that empower our employees to develop their skills and advance their careers.
With a strong focus on employee engagement and inclusion, we conduct regular satisfaction surveys and maintain an open-door policy to ensure every voice is heard.
We have achieved a 92% retention rate and significant productivity improvements through strategic performance measurement and internal talent development. By fostering a culture of learning and innovation, we not only invest in our workforce but also strengthen our organization for the future. At Mac’s, our people are at the heart of everything we do.
ENHANCING OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY
As a large local employer of nearly 100 people from Kirklees and the surrounding areas, we are passionate about making a positive impact within the community. We work directly with local schools and universities, providing opportunities for students to learn about the world of work, and manufacturing. We also sponsor a local football team, Lindley Moor FC, who provide high-quality football sessions for young people, promoting well-being, teamwork and health.
PROTECTING & PRESERVING THE ENVIRONMENT
In what is inherently a carbon-heavy industry, Mac’s are committed to mitigating any impacts on the environment and preserving the beautiful area around our site, which plays host to an old Roman road and even a historical milestone.
Preventing Waste
Through the innovative design of our site, we recycle most water and strive to recycle the large variety of waste we produce, from office paper to metal components. There are some things that sadly cannot be recycled, and these items are disposed of properly to prevent any environmental damage.
We recently installed a new shot blasting booth, which compared to sandblasting, reuses the same shot material up to 8 times, while also providing a better paint finish on our trucks, benefitting our customers for years.
Enhancing our site
We have planted trees all around the perimeter to aid drainage, control noise, and allow our site to blend into the local environment. The historic site plays host to an old Roman road, Milestone, and trig point, all of which have been protected while ongoing work is carried out to extend our main workshop.
