Our very own Joanne McDade, Finance Director at Mac’s Trucks, has taken on the challenge of participating in the 2023 Leeds Big Sleep.
Taking place on the 23rd November, participants have to give up a night of comfort and sleep on the cold hard ground at Headingley Stadium to raise awareness and importantly funds for three amazing Leeds Charities:
- St Gemma’s Hospice is a Leeds-based charity providing care and support for local people with life-limiting illnesses. It is actually the largest hospice in Yorkshire and one of the largest in the UK, and supports patients of all beliefs and nationalities with care.
- St Georges Crypt has been open since 1930 and offers care, a place to sleep, eat, and shower 365 days a year for anyone in need.
- Leeds Rhinos Foundation – The official charity of Leeds Rhinos, they deliver projects in the community across a broad spectrum of areas.
If you know Jo, you’ll already understand she feels the cold more than most, so much so she keeps a heater under her desk year-round and removes her Mac’s fleece solely for the month of July! To make the challenge even tougher, Jo will be completing the night with the absolute minimum of equipment, in solidarity with those most at need on our Streets this winter.
Jo has set a target of raising £1500 (£500 per charity), and with your kind support, we know she’ll beat this target and help so many.
